The Asian Reacts

So, Act II was a bit difficult to get through. Mainly because of Polonius' constant rambling.

Seriously, no one wanted to hear him speak. I think even Shakespeare was annoyed just writing his part for it was just so obnoxious. And the whole assumption he made of Hamlet's mood being related to Ophelia's lack of interest in Hamlet:

But that just adds to the miscommunication that is involved in Shakespeare's plays. And I suppose it wasn't such a stupid mistake to make, but assumptions get us no where. He then has the clever idea to blab to the king and queen and devise a whole plan to catch Ophelia and Hamlet. He just thinks he's so clever...

I think this whole scene just adds to the whole delay of Hamlet's revenge. Nothing of too much importance happened. Hamlet finally did realize at the end that he's acting ridiculous and comes up with a clever idea to somewhat try and prove his uncle's guilt. So, finally we are getting somewhere!

So, all in all, Act II was a bit of a drag. Polonius was obnoxious and annoying, the king and queen are still oblivious, and Hamlet is still being stubborn about taking action, but we are slowly getting somewhere.
