Personal Reaction
Lee Sims

Surprisingly, I did not have much difficulty comprehending Shakespeare's complex writing. My favorite section was I.ii when Hamlet expressed all of his emotions in one soliloquy; this was very moving and surreal in a way. Hamlet loves his mother but is torn because he cannot fathom why she did what she did and Hamlet doesn't see any point in living. The way that Shakespeare sets up this story is very interesting; Shakespeare just throws the audience into the plot to force the audience to be more attentive and to make him/her feel like they belong in the story.
